Self Storage – Putting Your Valuables in Good Hands

Most people face the common dilemma of desiring to shop for new items but having no space in their homes to keep those items. They may wish to clear the cluttered items from their homes, but are unable to sell them off in case they are required in future. Such situations can be successfully managed by using the self storage service.

In the self storage service, customers rent some storage space for a limited period of time to store important items they do not want to get rid of permanently.

Many household items have some emotional associations attached to them and so these items can’t be just disposed off to make space. There are also those things that at the moment may serve no objective but may come to excellent use in future. You hence find yourself having to hold back your desire for new items just because you don’t know what to do with the old but precious things that your rooms are cluttered with. This is exactly the cause why the self storage business is growing.

Modern self storage units are equipped with high tech security for the customers’ assets. They boast of security cameras, door alarms and other such security gadgets to make sure your assets are secure.

Paintings and other delicate items of aesthetic value have to be secured not only from theft by unscrupulous individuals but also from time that takes away their beauty. They require appropriate conditioning and protection from the climate. That is why most self storage facilities also have climate control technology to preserve your items. Even furniture and fabrics of all kinds and textures can be safely kept in these units. In fact, proper pest-control measures are also taken to cleanse these units at timely intervals.

Self storage units give customers with a guarantee that their valuables are not only secure but also kept in proper condition so that they can make use of them whenever they intend to.

Investing Rental Property:

Posted by Jason Myers | Home Improvement | Tuesday 6 October 2009 9:24 am
by Jaso Myers

House flipping has become such a popular method that purchasing rental property is nearly uninteresting by comparison. The attraction of the flip is obvious a high profile investment, artistic renovations or remodeling, pushing the price up as high as they can but, most importantly, the glare of the immediate profit.

A flipped home pays for itself the same month and also leaves enough of a leftover amount to make the investment have been worth it. There are even cable shows dedicated to it! Why then, would anyone be interested in leasing out instead of selling at the same time? There are many reasons.

First and foremost, there is no for sure that a sale will go forward right away, specifically right in the heart of of an economic crisis. While there will usually be people looking for for well built homes that are reasonably priced, more and more people are trying to pay less by renting which means the market is or will be inundated with possible tenants right away.

While it might be true that a resold house covers its own expenses (and then some) on the short term, it is also a fact that the correct rental house will pay for itself several times over in the future. Finally, a sold property generates a solid amount of cash where on the other hand a home generates a steady stream of cash over an the future, offering a kind of solid income that even the most lucrative of house flipping careers cannot offer.

Deciding to invest in rental homes requires knowlege, some money and a long term commitment. An investor should be aware of the kinds of properties he can invest in (single homes, homes in condominiums or homes for more than one family) their respective pros and cons (amount of your full commitment they need, potential income they make) and as well the local and global real estate market (types are wanted right now, what is the average price of rent). Under the correct set of events and with the correct person it can become a valuable and extended source of money.

Don’t Spend Hours On Gardens Maintenance

by Frank Wainwright

Gardens maintenance can quickly become a tiresome and frustrating task if you are doing it wrong. Your garden will tell you what needs to be done as the seasons change.

Autumn leaves falling create a beautiful carpet of color and should rather be enjoyed than raked every day. Let the tree finish the drop of leaves before you take action. Instead of working leaves into bags for disposal, simply rake them into your flower beds where they will form a blanket of protection against the frosty winter conditions that will soon threaten to kill your plants.

Roses can be pruned very precisely wasting hours of time. A quick and very efficient way of doing this job is to use a simple measure stick of 90 centimeters long. Simply push it down into the rose bed to a depth of approximately ten centimeters and cut your roses at the top level of the stick. From the cut off bushes you can now quickly make cuttings if you wish, or simply shred and scatter the cuttings over the rose beds. This layer will protect the roses from frost killing their roots.

Many a husband can’t stand the site of the lawn mower, but will face it at least twice a week. Buy him a calendar for gardeners that shows the phases of the moon and when to mow a lawn to reduce growth. By doing this task on time, you can reduce your waltz with the mower twice times a month.

Forget about setting aside whole days just for garden maintenance, rather do it as you spot something the needs to be done. On your afternoons stroll through the garden, nip out dead flowers or pull up some weeds. By doing something small every day, your maintenance will not build up into time consuming projects.

A small amount of maintenance will see you enjoy a beautiful garden all year long.

Using A Single Bed For Your Child’s Bedroom

Posted by Greeta Shillingsford | Interior Design | Monday 5 October 2009 8:52 am
by Greeta Shillingsford

If you want to create a perfect place for your little angel to sleep, you will have to make the transformation from cot into single bed. For a toddler a change like this can be quite dramatic, so take it easy. Here is how to introduce a single bed into a toddler’s world.

There comes a time when we as parents have to realize that our children grow up, and they it will be a bit weird to have a ten year old child still sleeping in his or her cot. We all want to them stay and innocent as they were when they were tiny, but everyone grows up, and when they do, they will need a single bed in their room. Okay, so they are not all that big yet, so you still want to make sure that they are safe, putting the bed up against the wall on one side is a start, and getting a guard rail (plastic) for the other side will finish off the job.

Okay, so the transition from cot to bed might be a bit weird and a bit much for one small little toddler to take in. It is natural, he or she is going from a tiny cot to a big bed, and this may make them feel insecure. Remedy this with tons of pillows and a whole lot of stuffed animals. Sleeping among them will make your young one feel better.

You can also use your cot mattress to start off with on top of the bed. This gives them a sense of something familiar and makes it easier for them to understand. They know that this new bed is not totally different and scary. With most toddlers the transition is quite easy into a new bed. You should also keep using the same pillows, bedding, and blankets to start off with.

Once your child is used to sleeping in this new bed, you can get let them sleep under the single bed duvet or comforter. You can get a brand new one as a present with fun picture and images that they love. They will really enjoy sleeping in this new bed.

Making it a fun room you can also get single beds shaped like cars or princess carriages. These will be lots of fun for kids and they will probably love sleeping in their new bed. You can find all sorts of unique children’s beds.

If you can’t find the exact one you want, or it is too expensive you can always create a similar effect using a headboard and foot board. You can make this yourself out of MDF or just plain cardboard covered in fabric or painted. You can make your child’s favorite images, shapes and colors.

From Home to Home: Relo Advice If Your On The Move

Posted by Steve Scheckner | Gardening | Sunday 4 October 2009 10:49 am
by Steve Scheckner

Getting ready to relocate? Everyone has there specific circumstances when it’s time to move. You may have a big house, a lot of pets, or a collection of pottery to consider. The best thing to do is think ahead and follow some easy steps to make your move stress free.

Two things to consider is whether you will employ a moving company or take on the move yourself. Finding a reputable moving company involves a decent amount of research. You don’t want your time, money and belongings getting into the wrong hands. The moving industry is known for having great scam artists that have no problem robbing you of your things and money. Don’t shop on the Internet where the scammers are waiting for you. Ask a friend or neighbor if they know of a good company they’ve had an enjoyable experience with. Instead of using the Internet to find a company use it as a resource to research how to avoid being scammed.

You may want to shop around in advance for the best rates and specials if you’ve decided to move on your own. There is a possibility you can save some money if you have your own packing supplies and moving equipment. A lot of the truck rental companies may have low rates for their trucks, but high rates for moving and packing supplies. It would be a good idea to have at least a hand truck or dolly, furniture blankets and rope or straps you can lock down. Look over the truck to make sure it is in good condition before making your move.

One of the best times to consolidate your belongings is during a move. You may find you have one vacuum cleaner too many or an extra Betamax machine. Contact a charity to arrange for a pick up or a drop off of these items. Make sure to file the receipts of the donations for tax time. The other fun family alternative is to have a garage sale.

Keep the list of addresses and phone numbers you will need for your move close by and not packed away. It is a good idea to get in touch with your utility companies to transfer or turn off services, your home insurance provider, and the post office to forward old mail at this time.

You will most likely spend your moving day at your old home. It is a good idea to be supervising the movers, so either yourself or a family member should be present until they’re loaded and have left. Review the bill of lading and ask all of your questions before you sign. Give them your best contact number so they can contact you in case of an emergency. Ask for their mobile numbers or a means of contacting them as well. And finally, close all of your windows, lock your doors and say goodbye to your old house.
